Dr. Pradeep P. Thevannoor Innovation Awards (PPTIA) instituted in year 2015 by SCMS School of Engineering and Technology, Kerala, India is a global event held annually with an aim to identify, recognize and celebrate innovative ideas and applications to tackle issues and challenges faced by society.Over the past 4 years, PPTIA has witnessed a steady growth in both number and quality of ideas. These ideas represent the ingenuity, passion and technological knowledge of the student community. With an overwhelming influx of 100s of ideas in 2018, PPTIA is once again geared up for new, creative and out-of-the-box solutions to everyday problems. Each year the best ideas are selected by a panel of experts from industry and academia and are given due recognition.PPTIA is not just another award show. While it is a platform for student innovators to present their ideas, PPTIA also provides an opportunity for students to take forward their innovations to an implementation level under the mentorship of industry leaders. We welcome you all to this technical extravaganza for a chance to interact with top innovators in God’s own country.
The competition is organised in association with Vodafone and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam University (KTU) with technical support from Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) of SCMS School of Engineering and Technology (SSET), Karukutty, Ernakulam, Kerala, KSIDC, Kerala StartUp Mission and ICT Academy.. We invite clear and fresh innovative ideas, having a real possibility of impacting the greater good, with a strong focus and chance of success and to become best products and practices
Awards And Prizes
PPTIA 2019 is open to both National and International participants. Applications for all types of innovative ideas, products, processes or services, technological or otherwise with a strong social impact are invited.
First and second place winners will be awarded prizes in both school and college level. In addition to this, there will be one Special Award for Indian Women Innovators.
The prize money for the college level is:Winner : Rs. 1 Lakh / US $ 1500Runner-up : Rs. 50,000 / US $ 750
The prize money for the school level is: Winner : Rs. 50,000 / US $ 750Runner-up: Rs. 25,000 / US $ 375
Special award for Women Innovators
The prize money for the special award is:Winner : Rs. 10,000 / US $ 143

Competition will be conducted in the categories- School Level and College Level. Students from all over the globe are invited to participate.
Participation is free of cost. International participants will be accommodated in our academic hostels with free boarding and lodging. Local transport and sightseeing arrangements will also be provided free of cost during the days of participation for international participants.
Projects done as part of curriculum and those presented elsewhere cannot be submitted.
Interested participants should provide a summary of their innovative idea which can be commercialized.
Based on the feasibility, novelty and social relevance, 15 finalists from College category and 20 finalists from School Category will be selected by an expert panel through several rounds of scrutiny.
These finalists in each category, can grab a chance to compete for the coveted “Dr. Pradeep P. Thevannoor Innovation Awards”.
The prize money for the college level is: Rs. 1 lakh (Winner) and Rs. 50,000 (runner-up), and for the school level is Rs. 50,000 (Winner) and Rs. 25,000 (runner-up) and Rs. 10,000 for Women's Innovator Award.
Additional prizes worth Rs 10,000 ($ 143 ) can be awarded for the winners of the following titles in each category.

Who Can Compete?
Category 1: College Level – Students of Engineering colleges around the world. Category 2: School Level- High School Students (8th to 10th) and Higher secondary school Students (Plus one and Plus Two) around the world.
What's the Team Size?
1 to 5 members per team. A team can submit as many as three ideas but present only one project.The team members cannot be changed during the competition.

What You Should Do?
Title of the proposed project/ idea.
Name, Postal address, email and contact number of the team members
Identity proof (Scanned copy of the school/college identity card).
Scope and Objectives of the project/ idea (30-75 words).
Overall approach including Methodology/ Procedure/ Process of the Project (75-100 words)
A description of the project with emphasis on the feasibility, social relevance and commercial viability. It should be between 450 words to 600 words.
Brief explanation on how this project/ idea will present novel (new) or additive information to the existing practice.
Financial estimate of the project.
An affidavit on the originality of the idea/ project.
Judging Criteria for Abstracts
The abstract submitted by the participants will be judged by an expert panel. The judges will be looking into the:
- Demonstrated creativity and originality
- Technical merit
- Commercialization strategy
- Implementation feasibility with supporting evidences, if any of the ideas, products or services showcased.
